WOULD YOU BE HAPPY IN HEAVEN!

The Transformation Required for Heaven: A Reflection on the Nature of the Human Heart

Jeremiah 17:10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

Psalms 44:21 Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

Introduction

Imagine stepping through the gates of heaven, into a realm of beauty beyond human comprehension. Streets of gold glisten beneath your feet, the air vibrates with the harmonies of celestial choirs, and the presence of Yahweh and Yehashua (Yahusha) radiates throughout the kingdom. Angels and beings from unfallen worlds surround you in a splendor unknown to earthly existence. However, there is one significant issue—you remain the same person you were on earth.

Would you truly be happy in paradise if you retained your earthly nature, carrying with you the same desires, temptations, and struggles that plagued you in the world? Would heaven be an eternal delight or an unbearable torment for the unconverted heart?

The Culture of Heaven vs. The Carnal Nature

Heaven is Centered on the Praise of Yahweh

The scriptures tell us that all of heaven delights in praising God continuously:

Revelation 19:5 - "And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye His servants, and ye that fear Him, both small and great."

For those who love God and have surrendered their hearts to Him, this eternal worship will be a source of joy and fulfillment. However, for the self-centered and unconverted, such an environment would be suffocating. A heart that seeks self-exaltation, pleasure, and vanity would find the atmosphere of heaven to be unbearable. Those who reject God’s sovereignty on earth would not suddenly delight in His praises in eternity.

Heaven is a Place of Obedience to God's Will

In heaven, all beings willingly and joyfully obey the voice of the Lord:

Isaiah 48:11-13 - "For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? And I will not give my glory unto another."

The unconverted heart, however, is naturally rebellious and resists divine authority. The Bible confirms this in Romans 8:7, which states:

"Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be."

If one cannot submit to God’s commandments on earth, how would they suddenly embrace His will in heaven? The very presence of divine holiness would cause discomfort and anguish for those who cling to sin and self-will.

Heaven is a Place of Righteousness and Hatred for Evil

Yahusha declared in John 3:16-21 that those who reject righteousness do so because they prefer darkness over light:

"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."

Heaven is a realm where righteousness is celebrated, and evil is absent. Many claim they desire heaven, but their lives reflect a love for the things God despises—lust, greed, strife, and self-indulgence. Without a transformed heart, they would feel out of place in an environment where purity and holiness are the standard.

The Danger of Assuming Instantaneous Change at the Resurrection

Many religious teachings imply that at the resurrection, God will instantly change a person’s heart, making them fit for heaven. However, scripture does not support this belief. The process of transformation begins in this life, not in the afterlife. A man who remains attached to the things of this world will not suddenly embrace the values of heaven.

If one’s heart still longs for material possessions, they would despise the golden streets of heaven because they would not be able to claim them for personal gain. If greed still consumes them, they would attempt to seize the pearls from the gates of the New Jerusalem. Heaven is not just a change of location; it is a place prepared for those who have already undergone a change of heart.

The Need for Transformation Before Entering Heaven

Philippians 2:5 instructs:

"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Yahusha."

The transformation into Christ-likeness is not an instantaneous event at death or resurrection; it is a process that must occur during one’s earthly life. Those who refuse to renew their minds and align their character with God’s will are unprepared for the reality of heaven.

We live in a world filled with corruption—violence, sexual immorality, greed, and addiction. Many have become so accustomed to chaos that they despise peace. Drug abuse, entertainment, and distractions are often sought to escape silence because, in stillness, one is confronted with their own heart.

Yet, Psalm 46:10 tells us:

"Be still, and know that I am God."

A person who cannot meditate on holiness now will find heaven to be an unbearable eternity. Heaven is not a place where self-indulgence is entertained; it is where God is exalted above all.

Conclusion: Are You Ready for Heaven?

Many believe they desire heaven, but few have considered whether they are truly prepared for its reality. Heaven is not a place of carnal indulgence but of divine holiness. It is not an eternal vacation but the dwelling place of God, where righteousness, obedience, and praise are the essence of existence.

If one cannot embrace these things now, they will not be able to embrace them in eternity. Just as Satan found no joy in God’s presence and sought rebellion, the unconverted heart would long for separation from the Almighty, even in the midst of paradise.

The call is clear: transformation must happen here and now. Those who truly long for heaven will seek to renew their minds, cultivate a love for righteousness, and surrender their hearts to God in preparation for eternal life in His presence.
